Sona completed her education at the University of Minnesota in 2015. Her current research includes projects related to biogeochemistry of mercury, co-cycling of mercury and sulfur in North American peatlands, and phosphorus speciation in agricultural soils. She has experience with a number of analytical techniques including trace metal analyses and synchrotron-based X-ray absorption near edge (XANES) spectroscopy.
