Dr. Kyounglim Kang is a geochemist with expertise in biogeochemistry, aqueous chemistry, and synchrotron-based spectroscopic and imaging techniques. She earned her Ph.D in Environmental Geosciences from the University of Vienna, Austria, where her research focused on the catalytic effects of redox processes on ligand-controlled dissolution of Fe(III) (hydr)oxide minerals. She also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Korea University.
Currently, Dr. Kang is a beamline scientist at Advanced Light Sources in Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, employed by the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on the application of synchrotron-based x-ray spectroscopy and imaging technique to study metal-organic interaction in various environmental settings, including wildfire ash, managed aquifer recharge sediments and wetland sediments.
